INGREDIENTS

1 sleeve of saltine crackers (approximately 35 crackers)
1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter
1 cup of firmly packed light brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon of sea salt
1 1/2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
1 package (10 - 12 ounces) of chocolate chips (choose from semi-sweet, milk, or dark chocolate)

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and lightly grease it with cooking spray. Place the crackers on the baking sheet in a single layer, arranging them so their edges are almost touching.

In a medium saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture comes to a boil. Let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, then remove from heat. Stir in the sea salt and vanilla extract.

Drizzle the caramel sauce over the crackers, spreading it evenly to cover them completely. Bake in the preheated oven for 6 minutes.

Take the pan out of the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the caramel layer. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes, then spread the now softened chocolate chips into an even layer over the caramel. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours, or place in the freezer for 30 to 45 minutes, until the mixture is firm.

Break or cut the chilled bark into pieces to serve. Store the pieces in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
